Yes, we finally got them brushes! Thank you Kristie/kuri♥ayu so SO much for taking so much trouble for us to send them.


Call me weird, but I was basically spazzing when I saw this package and read "Brushes" on the description. xD


The brushes, still packed and sealed. I've got to say it was quite hard to take off the plastic wrap around it, but at least that means it was nicely protected. ♥


My brush set free! It is sooo soft and fluffy (Deja vu, anyone? Haha..).
I already used it once and so far I'm loving it (We will do a review for it later ^^). Kristie was so sweet that she also gave us a few samples, because we didn't get any from our order. We had to order through Amazon.com, because Sephora's website didn't accept international orders at all (even though when it's sent to someone in the States). :(

Just to let you guys know, I'm not sure if I'll be updating for these coming 2 weeks. I'll be having exams and I need to turn in some essays too. But! When I'm back, I'll be posting part 2 of my big haul and I think I will finally do some review posts again.

*cookiie; somewhat big haul post (part 1)

Recently, I've been buying a lot of stuff online. It's either because I just recently got so into make up and other beauty products or because school started again. Maybe I'm buying myself stuff out of stress? Haha, I don't know, but I'm trying to restrain myself a little so that I won't end up being broke all the time.

So what did I get? Honestly, I haven't received everything yet, but I'll post a part 2 later when I do. My stuff came in from different places and packages, so read on to see from where it is.


How it arrived.
The first one came from StrawberryNet.com; I bought two Soft Cream Eye Colours and one Double Fix' Mascara from Clarins. Buying these 3 products gave me 5% discount (general offer) and a free Stila Eye Shadow Pan in 'Chinchina' (special offer for first-time buyers). It is my first buy here but I really like it already. They also have an Ebay store, but the prices there are a bit different, there are less products for sale compared to the website and it's just less organized. If you want to try buying something there, then I'm definitely suggesting to buy it at the website, also because of the special offers and such. Anyways, here are some pictures~

The mascara is great for a smudge-proof application after you've applied a non-waterproof mascara. The cream eyeshadows are really nice and quite shimmery; I will put out swatches and a short review about it later. :)

The next package came from Jess. When I saw that she was selling her MAC 109 brush for €20 only, I just had to jump on it.

*cookiie; the brush guard (review)

Just a short review about Brush Guards, since I haven't seen much about it by others. I got these at CoastalScents.com along with the brushes because it was a bit cheaper for me to buy it there than at the official website TheBrushGuard.com.



If you haven't heard about them yet, this is a short description that's mentioned on the official selling website:

The Brush Guard is a stretchable, breathable tube which protects your makeup brushes:
* While drying—bristles dry in perfect shape
* In use—handle stays clean and grips better
* In storage—no snags or squashing
* On the move—perfect packing

First impressions.

When they have just arrived, I was really excited to try them out. As I mentioned earlier, I didn't hear much about them except for some people who introduced them and showed what it actually does for brushes. They seemed to promise a lot, so I was really curious about it. The package arrived with a piece of paper where you can sort of see what kind of brushes fit what kind of sizes that the Brush Guard have, quite handy right?



After trying them on my brushes, it seemed that some of them fitted pretty neatly, but my Taklon Flat Liner Concealer brush (supposedly to fit on a 'Shadow' tube, which is the smallest size they have) didn't seem to get any protection at all, as the tube couldn't touch the bristles at all when you put it on.


Also, even though the tubes fit quite neatly sometimes, the tubes still seem to be able to move around on their own when you store the brushes together. When the tube slides from the bristles to the handle, bristles can get in between the holes of the tube, which ends up causing fly-aways. This isn't a big deal as you can fix that with the tube itself, because it usually can shape your brushes perfectly again when you use the right tubes. But then again, you shouldn't need to fix things with a product that had caused the problem in the first place.

What made me curious the most about these Brush Guards is that it claims to dry your bristles in perfect shape. This is indeed true, but you'd at least need to wait a day or two for bigger brushes to dry. I don't find that very convenient, as there isn't such a big difference in the shape when I just let them dry normally for a few hours.

The last thing that it's supposed to do, is that you can slide it to your handle to prevent dirt and to get a better grip. I didn't really care much for this, as I have no problem cleaning the handles or no desire to have better grip on my brushes. I still tried it out and to be honest, I didn't really like how it feels when I hold a brush with it. Therefore, I won't be using it like that unless I'll have trouble holding a brush in the future.

The verdict.

Hmm..I'm not too impressed, but they're not bad. I do feel like it's more protected if it has a snug fit, but it doesn't seem like there are enough sizes that fit all brushes. Hopefully, there will be more sizes later with an improved design of it.

*cookiie; coastal scents brushes (review)

Today I'm going to review a few brushes I recently purchased at CoastalScents.com.

I have to confess that I'm quite a rookie when it comes to applying make up, especially application with brushes. These brushes are my first and I picked these because of the price and the good quality that others claim about it. So, are they really that nice?




The brushes.

Taklon Flat Liner Concealer: I use this brush for lining my eyes. I first thought that this brush was angled because of the picture they use on their website, but it's not. It's actually just a flat one (Looking back at the name, duh), which makes me think that lining your eyes with it would be less convenient. It's still fine though; even a rookie like me could do a decent line with it after a few times practising. It's stiff enough to make nice lines with it, but it definitely doesn't scratch or irritate my skin. Also, there is no bleeding or shedding if I use/wash it.

Synthetic Shadow Brush: I can't say much about how well it applies, since I don't have other brushes to compare with. According to the description on the website, it says: "This has just the right amount of firmness for applying those gorgeous shadow pigments." And I guess that's true. I've tried it on some real cheap eyeshadow that hardly shows colours if you apply it on your skin, but it still does a pretty good job. It bled a little when I washed it (The fibers weren't as black as it was at first), but I haven't experienced any shedding at all.

Synthetic Concealer Shading Brush: I haven't tried this with concealer yet, but it will probably do the job. I used this to do eyeshadow on large areas and it's about the same as the shadow brush, it's only a bit bigger by width. The same with bleeding and no shedding.

Synthetic Deluxe Crease Brush: This brush is used for blending and of course for applying on the crease, but I think it's a little bit too soft for precise application. Once again, a little bit of bleeding but no shedding.



Synthetic Buffer Brush Large: I use this brush mainly for applying liquid foundation, but it can also be used to apply bronzer or any powder products. I think it gives you a quite nice somewhat airbrushed look. My only complaint about it is that it's not dense enough, so a lot of product will go to waste and get deeper into the fibers (which also means that cleaning the brush would be more troublesome). It shed a little while applying/washing and it also bled a little since the ends of the fibers are now white/greyish, while it used to be completely black.

The verdict.

These brushes are all pretty good while they're really cheap. They're definitely worth trying if you're a beginner like me, but I think more experienced people will also enjoy these.
