*Milk; Urban Decay Naked vs. Lunasol Beige Beige (comparison)

Just thought I would post a quick follow up on the Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes palette in 'Beige Beige'. In my previous post, I mentioned that the Lunasol eyeshadows have a soft sheen to them and have a different finish compared to shimmery eyeshadows of western brands.

I thought it would be interesting to see swatches of the Urban Decay 'Naked' palette side-by-side with the Lunasol 'Beige Beige' to give you guys a better idea with what I mean with the finish.


The top row are the Urban Decay shades in: sin, sidecar, half baked & smog

As you can see, the Urban Decay eyeshadows tend to look a bit more metallic. Both are gorgeous, but for an every day look I would prefer the Lunasol shades because they look softer and more feminine.

*Milk; Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes in 'Beige Beige' (review & swatches)

Alas, after lusting after Lunasol eyeshadow palettes for nearly two years I finally bite the bullet and decided to purchase the ever so popular Skin Modeling Eyes palette in 'Beige Beige'!

Product description: What eye makeup makes the skin look most beautiful? This four-color eyeshadow set is LUNASOL´s answer to that question. We have created the ultimate combination of beige-based colors in which coloration, glow and clarity are all elaborately calculated. Shadows stand out and dimensions are added to your eyes as you apply each subtle glow in sequence.

The product


The palette consists of four neutral shades, all containing ultra fine shimmer. Even the top left color which is a super sparkly light pink feels very smooth- the shimmer is not gritty at all.



The three lighter shades give a soft finish; the darkest brown shade is infused with golden shimmer which gives a beautiful sheen.

How to

1. Apply A (Modeling Highlight) all over eyelid.
2. Blend B (Medium Color) upward from the base of eyelashes toward the eyelid crease.
3. Apply C (Nuance Color) on eyelid crease and beneath the lower lashes.
4. Apply D (Shade Color) along the base of eyelashes as you draw a line.

* Colors B and C can be used in various ways according to your desired image and finish.

The verdict

Truthfully, I was rather disappointed with the packaging. I imagined the palette to feel heavier, but instead it is made out of a lightweight material.

The shadows are very soft and easy to blend, but due to the formula the pigmentation is not as vivid ('solid') compared to, for example, Urban Decay or MAC eyeshadows. However, the soft sheen of the eyeshadows provides an easy application and does not require a lot of blending.

All in all, the palette has a nice selection of colors that are complimentary to one another. If you are a fan of shimmery eyeshadows, I do recommend this palette as the shimmer is very fine and gives a more elegant look compared to some shimmery eyeshadows of western brands (which tend to look somewhat metallic).

*cookiie; coastal scents 88 palette?

Some of you might have noticed, by looking at my wishlist, that I crossed out the "Coastal Scents" part before the "88 Warm Eye Shadow Palette". The reason for this, is because I found a palette that is probably exactly the same and is a lot cheaper, so I bought that instead. However, before I bought it, a guy friend of mine surprised me and bought a "Coastal Scents" palette for me as a birthday present. What was even more surprising, is that the palette was a "fake"!

My friend, who doesn't know much about make up, ordered it through Ebay and apparantly there are sellers out there who sells these palettes using CC's name. And on top of that, there were some shadows in the palette that were shattered and damaged. Because of the damage, I first didn't even realize that it was fake. Only after checking it out for another few times, I saw a big difference between the pictures at Coastal Scents and this "fake" palette.

Since I don't own a "real" CC 88 Warm Palette, I'll show you the differences with my identical looking 88 Warm palette from Ebay. Before I do this, I want to say that I have nothing against Coastal Scents as I'm a customer as well and I have ordered from them quite some times. The only thing I'm saying is that their 88 palettes are not entirely "owned" by them and it's sold everywhere by a lot of different sellers and online cosmetics companies (In case you were wondering about their Metal Mania Palette, I haven't seen it anywhere else before so that is probably an unique palette from them). I am in no means trying to offend them in any way, but I just want to let my readers know that you can buy the "same" palette for an even more affordable price.

Okay enough writing, let's go to the pictures!

Here you can see that the column in the middle has a different placing on the "fake" palette. However, this isn't because it is a faulty product. I found out that there are two different 88 Warm palettes sold at Ebay. They are basically the same if you compare the colours (aside from having a different order and stuff), only that some of them are either matte/shimmer and at the other palette the same colour would have the opposite finish. Also, some colours look really similar, but turns out to be a tad bit lighter/darker.

Aaand the palettes themselves. You can see what I mean with the differences in shades or finishes. I would say the pigmentation of these two are the same, with the matte ones being the less and the shimmery ones being the best pigmented. I don't have the real Coastal Scents one so I can't compare it with the "real" thing, but I have to say that the pigmentation is generally pretty good.

For people who likes bright colours more, you can also buy the 88 Color Palette on Ebay as well, I'm not sure if they have the all shimmer one though. I have ordered one before for someone I know and that palette definitely has some matte eyeshadows as well. I didn't get one for myself since I got a 96 Color Palette instead, hehe~ I'll post about that one later. ^^

*cookiie; too faced eyeshadows (review)

Second post of the year! I'm sorry that I broke my promise to post this before we went to London, but it was just so busy. We bought a lot in London as you can see on Milk's post. I'll post about my haul later, since I did get some other stuff that might be worth mentioning. :)

So for this post, I'll review my Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Policy and my Too Faced World Domination Tour All Access Backstage Beauty Collection eyeshadow palettes.


You can probably see it in every store that sells Too Faced products, but for the ones who haven't seen it yet, this is how the Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Policy palette look like. It's actually some sort of set that comes with a full size Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which was actually my reason for buying it. The six eyeshadows are also full sized and I think you can buy them as single eyeshadows too. I bought it on Ebay for €30 (around USD$40).

The packaging.


The inside
I don't have the whole packaging anymore, but it arrived inside a plastic clear box. If you look on that picture, you can see that it has a black elastic band at the bottom-left side of the palette; that's where the Shadow Insurance was put in place. It's not the prettiest packaging that I've seen, but it sure is a very travel-friendly palette as it is very small (4x3.5 inches/10.5x9.5 cm) and you can just put it in your make up bag and take it with you to anywhere.

I would say it's quite pigmentated, but you do need to build it up if you want the colours to really show up, even when you put it on after priming your eyes. They do have shimmers in it, so you'd probably need to use this palette combined with some matte eyeshadows.


The Too Faced World Domination Tour All Access Backstage Beauty Collection palette (box)
The packaging.


This palette comes in a box as shown on the picture, so it's a lot less travel-friendly. I also have trouble storing it because of it's size, so I wouldn't buy it if you don't have much space to store your make up like me. I honestly only bought it because it was discounted a lot in the Sephora stores in Holland. I'll put some more pictures of the packaging at the end of the post if anyone is interested, but this picture has the focus on the eyeshadow area.

I don't think these eyeshadows are sold seperately, so maybe that's why the formula seems different. They are a lot less pigmented compared to the eyeshadows on the Shadow Insurance palette, but they are still quite nice after building it up for a little bit. Some have shimmers in it, while some are completely matte. However, the colours are quite at random so you can't really use this palette alone, unless you're going for a very colourful look.

The verdict.

Quite nice eyeshadows! That's basically what I think of these. I can't use these alone, but they do offer a variety of special and nice colours. I recommend getting them if you're still collecting eyeshadow colours and want to play around with different kind of colours and shades. If you're looking for something you can carry around alone, then these palettes are not really suitable.

*cookiie; somewhat big haul post (part 1)

Recently, I've been buying a lot of stuff online. It's either because I just recently got so into make up and other beauty products or because school started again. Maybe I'm buying myself stuff out of stress? Haha, I don't know, but I'm trying to restrain myself a little so that I won't end up being broke all the time.

So what did I get? Honestly, I haven't received everything yet, but I'll post a part 2 later when I do. My stuff came in from different places and packages, so read on to see from where it is.


How it arrived.
The first one came from StrawberryNet.com; I bought two Soft Cream Eye Colours and one Double Fix' Mascara from Clarins. Buying these 3 products gave me 5% discount (general offer) and a free Stila Eye Shadow Pan in 'Chinchina' (special offer for first-time buyers). It is my first buy here but I really like it already. They also have an Ebay store, but the prices there are a bit different, there are less products for sale compared to the website and it's just less organized. If you want to try buying something there, then I'm definitely suggesting to buy it at the website, also because of the special offers and such. Anyways, here are some pictures~

The mascara is great for a smudge-proof application after you've applied a non-waterproof mascara. The cream eyeshadows are really nice and quite shimmery; I will put out swatches and a short review about it later. :)

The next package came from Jess. When I saw that she was selling her MAC 109 brush for €20 only, I just had to jump on it.

*Milk; The Body Shop Shimmer Waves (review)

My 'Love Your Body' card from The Body Shop was expiring and I only needed one more stamp to get my €15 discount so I thought I might as well take advantage of it.

I looked around the store and there wasn't anything in particular that I liked, but then I saw the shimmer waves I remembered that Bubzbeauty also had them. They come in 3 different shades and they cost €22 each. (Quite expensive!) Thankfully, there was a promotion going on and together with the discount I only paid €19 for two palettes!





The 'Bronze' one is my absolute favorite out of all three palettes. The colors are very versatile in my opinion and the pigmentation is great. I'm surprised at the quality, but then again, they charge a whopping €22 for it.

I couldn't really decide between the pink or peach palette; both were nice but since I already have a few pink eyeshadows I went for the peach one.





For some reason the 'Peach' palette is much more shimmery than the 'Bronze' one and some of the shades look pretty similar.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase but I don't know if I will buy more make up from The Body Shop in the future. I swatched a few of their single eyeshadows but the pigmentation wasn't all that great and for some reason a lot of their products are very very shimmery.
